Lay School of the Church

The purpose of the Lay School of the Church is to assist lay people to more ably fulfill their commitments to God and to the church through an education program designed to better equip them for ministry.

Some areas of service may include, but not be limited to, the following: personal enrichment; spiritual development; teaching children, youth, and adults; serving as Sunday School superintendent; directing Vacation Bible School; leading a book study; leading a Bible study group; serving as youth leader; assisting with confirmation education; leading worship or serving as liturgist; advising boards and committees; conducting a spirituality group; taking charge of new member classes; educating the church for local mission work; lay preaching when the pastor is not available; serving as a licensed minister; and many other activities according to the needs of the particular congregation.
